About Talya

I'm Talya Otzar, a documentary filmmaker and photographer, drawn to the moments that usually go unnoticed. the glance across a room, the pause before a smile, the way light falls on a familiar place. These are the moments that stay with us long after the day has passed.

My work is shaped by documentary storytelling. I studied still photography through the Continuing Education Faculty at the Technion, and later spent four years studying film and directing at the Sam Spiegel Film School in Jerusalem. This combination of photography and filmmaking deeply shapes the way I see and approach every story.

I believe the most meaningful images are never forced or directed. They happen when people feel safe enough to simply be themselves.

Whether I'm filming a documentary, photographing a wedding, following a family on their travels, or documenting an intimate celebration, I approach every story with the same curiosity: to understand who you are before I ever lift my camera.

I don't just want you to remember what happened. I want you to remember how it felt. Every film and every photograph becomes a time capsule — an honest record of a moment that can never be recreated, only remembered.

I'm based in central Israel and photograph most often across Gush Dan and the Tel Aviv area, the Sharon — Kfar Saba, Ra'anana, Herzliya, Netanya and Hod HaSharon — Jerusalem and the surrounding hills, and Haifa and the Krayot. I travel further for the right story, in Israel and abroad.
